Our Story
The Rebel Royals is a team committed to developing our individual dance skills, showcasing our collective talent, supporting our Rebel teams, and entertaining our Rebel audience!
The inaugural season of the Byrnes High School Dance Team began in October 2017. With a stellar showing in six performances, including basketball halftime shows and school events; their first season was a shining success.
The 2018/2019 team added Friday night home football performances to the lineup and brought an extra element of excitement and school spirit to Nixon field with full game sideline performances in in the East End Zone along with pregame and halftime performances.
This impressive team also earned outstanding accolades as they assumed competition status on the nationally acclaimed Universal Dance Association (UDA) circuit, earning top three placement in all THREE divisions (Jazz, Hip Hop, and Game Day) in their very first competition at the Southeastern Peachtree City Championship in Georgia!
The Rebel Royals Varsity Dance Team currently competes in regional competitions within the South Carolina Dance Association (SCDA) each season. From 2020 to 2023, the team has collected placments, trophies, and accoldaes at a variety of reginal compettions and have scored 1st - 3rd place finishes over ten times. Most impressively, they have successfully qualified for the SC STATE competition for the past five years!
The Royals are eager and excited for the 2024/2025 season as they look to expand their competition schedule and, as always, support our Rebel Family on the field and on the court!

Come see the Royals as they perform thrilling jazz, hip hop, and pom routines during the halftime events of all Friday night basketball games for the Runnin' Rebels and the Lady Rebels basketball teams!

The team has previously performed for the annual Beta Club Talent show & at Duncan Academy of Fine Arts annual Fine Arts Day.
The Royals look forward to bringing fun and entertainment to our other D-5 schools and upcoming community events for the 2024/2025 season!

Tryouts for the 2024/25 season will take place May 25 & auditions are open to rising 9th-12th graders in District Five.
Tryout Application is REQUIRED & will be made available electronically to interested candidates on March 31, 2025.
